Health & Safety Management System

Health & Safety Compliance

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the subsequent legislation created under this Act places substantial responsibilities on an employer.

All employers must have a Health & Safety policy and this must be in a written format where there are five or more employees.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires that Risk Assessments must be carried out for the risks from the workplace and work activity as they affect employees and non- employees. The significant findings of risk assessments must be recorded where an employer has five or more employees.

All employers must appoint a Competent Person to assist in achieving their Health and Safety statutory compliance. We can act as your Competent Person or can work with your own appointed Competent Person.

Our services are designed to provide you with the tools, systems and support to ensure that compliance is achieved in a format that will enhance your business performance.

Products & Services

  • We will write your Health & Safety Policy as part of a Health & Safety Management System.
  • We will provide a Health & Safety Handbook for Employees
  • A General Health & Safety Risk Assessment will be completed. This may identify the requirement for more hazard specific risk assessments such as Manual Handling or COSHH.
  • We will review your Health & Safety Policy and Risk Assessments during the year.
  • We will provide access to our Health & Safety Telephone Helpline available during office hours for immediate support with your queries or concerns.

First Visit

An assessment will be carried out of the work place and work activities as appropriate to the client's instructions. This will involve an inspection of the client's premises and work activities, and a review of the available health and safety documentation.

Information will also be gathered to include in the Health & Safety Management System.
The Health & Safety Management System will comprise:-

  • A health and safety policy statement.
  • The client's health and safety organisational arrangements and responsibilities of key personnel.
  • Policies and procedures for the implementation of the client's health and safety policy.
  • A Health & Safety Handbook for Employees if required.

Health & Safety Management System and General Health & Safety Risk Assessment

Second Visit

Usually within 4 weeks (of first visit)
The Health & Safety Management System will be delivered to the client to provide information on the operation of the management system and action required resulting from the risk assessment report.

Intermediate Visit (if client requires this)

  • Progress in addressing corrective actions identified in the risk assessment will be reviewed.
  • Operation of the health and safety management system will be reviewed.
  • A safety survey of the client's undertaking will be carried out.
  • A written report will be provided.
  • Intermediate visits provide an opportunity for face-to-face consultation to discuss issues raised at previous visits or health & safety issues that have arisen, and to make minor amendments if necessary to the client's Health & Safety Management System

Annual review & update

First Visit

We will carry out a review on all Health & Safety documents or Health & Safety policy and update documentation reflecting any changes in the workplace risks and risk control measures. Minor amendments, if necessary, will be made to the Health & Safety Policy.

Second Visit (Within 2 weeks)

Bring Health & Safety policy back and bring to the attention of clients plus any changes or additions.
